Tough home games await Redskins in 2010
By Bud L. Ellis
If the Washington Redskins are going to recover from last season’s 4-12 debacle, they’ll have to try and knock off some of the National Football League’s top teams at home in 2010.
The NFL has announced what teams the Redskins will play at home and on the road this season. Dates will be finalized later this spring.
Five of the Redskins’ eight home games are against postseason qualifiers from last season. The slate is far from easy, starting with NFC East rivals Dallas (the defending division champ) and Philadelphia, which reached the playoffs as wild card last season. Also playing the Redskins at home who reached the playoffs last season are AFC champion Indianapolis, NFC runner-up Minnesota and wild-card team Green Bay. Rounding out the home slate are games with the New York Giants, Tampa Bay and Houston.
On the road, the Redskins travel to Dallas and Philly, the only two playoff teams on the road slate. Also on the road schedule are trips to the Giants, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Jacksonville and Tennessee.
Based on last season’s opponents’ win percentage, Washington’s schedule ranks eighth in the NFL.
